Hey guys! So apparently it's come to my attention that by saying hi in one of the comments of one of the threads don't count as an introduction... so ... here it goes....
I'm Chewy Quah, born and raised in Penang but calling Singapore home now for close to 20 years. (that anniversary is coming soon, real soon)
Started AGOT with v1.0 back in late 2013, thanks to a girl I was dating then who introduced this wonderful game to me.
During v1.0 days, always stuck with playing Dothraki until late-2014 when FFG announced the Reboot. With the game coming to an end I suddenly saw the point to start other decktypes, but still wouldn't leave my comfort zone of Targaryen. Created / Co-created / borrowed / stolen many iconic Targaryen decks over that last one year of v1.0 (burn, jumper/teleporters, intrigue-power-pressure decks, mad-king-aegon-hill and arrogant dragons) and even took the last Regional Championship of Singapore. And with that the Khal rode far to Stahleck castle and I was bitten by the bug of that tournament. I tell myself I'm going to be an AGOT-lifer.
v2.0 rolled around and it was great! I took a more of a community-organising role in 2016, as I wanted both new and old players to forge friendships and a community through the new game. That role kinda got out of hand and we ended up creating The Siege of Astapor Singapore Open and seeded the many other open tournaments in different countries, culminating in the SouthEast-Asian and Oceanic Championship in Bangkok aka The Siege of Meereen.
You'll still find me playing mostly Targ, and I have a Targ-only policy in tournaments. But I've been caught playing Night's Watch, Greyjoy, Martell and Tyrell in many casual nights and deck-building jank exercises. I've yet to explore the intricacies of Baratheon, too mind-blown every time I see or play against iTrvis to contemplate the vast mathematical complexity of that faction. Starks and Lannisters are too OP now and I fear if I play them I will just tip the balance and cause them to be banned forever, or worse, create a tear in the fabric of the space-time continuum. Perhaps at a later date when these two factions have toned down a little.
